On sledging you, the FANS. . . . .

  • Accept sledging as ‘part of’ competitive sport.
  • However what players say when sledging is important to sports fans.  A number of areas were clearly ‘off limits’ from a sport fans perspective:
    • Children – definitely a no go area;
    • Racial comments
    • Religious comments
    • About women
    • About a competitors family or parents

  • Cricket is overwhelming identified by sports fans as the sport with the worst reputation for sledging.

From our latest survey on rugby in Australia:

  •  Most fans think Australia and New Zealand will contest the final in France with more fans thinking NZ will emerge as World Champions.
  • Ireland is tipped as the emerging new force – will they emulate the performance of their cricket side earlier this year?
  • So far the majority of FANS are undecided as to whether John O’Neil’s appointment was the right one for rugby
